This is a video in the new Core Concepts series – designed to provide students and lifelong learners with a brief discussion centered on a concept from a classical philosophical text and thinker.

This Core Concept video focuses on Marcus Tullius Cicero On Duties, book 1, especially in his discussion of the virtue of Temperance. An interesting aspect of this virtue that discusses has to do with our homes. Cicero focuses specifically on homes, but there is no reason not to be able to extend the tips, estimates and guidelines for rentals or even dorm rooms.
