Association Culture & Travel: Travel in Upper Lusatia

The Culture & Travel Association was held on August 4 in south-east Germany, or the southernmost corner of Saxony, which forms a border triangle with Poland and the Czech Republic, Upper Lusatia. It is in this idyll that lies the smallest mountain range in Germany, the Zittau Mountains, and it is here that lies Bad Oybin, the destination of the trip. The next day, a round trip by bus to the Zittau mountains was on the agenda. During this visit, the participants discovered the landscape, the history as well as the peculiarities of architecture (Umgebindehäuser). Among the villages crossed, it should be pointed out that it would probably be the most beautiful village in Upper Lusatia, Obercunnersdorf, with 6300 inhabitants and about 250 carefully maintained Umgebinde houses. In Zittau, the bus tour ends with a city tour. The circle is closed by taking the Zittau narrow gauge railway, which connects Zittau to Bad Oybin. Dresden, capital of Saxony, was the destination of the tour group the next day. During a walk through the times and guide, the history and architecture of the historic center were brought closer to the participants. The evening ended with a reading "Saxon crime stories" by author Uwe Wittenfeld. The most easterly city in Germany, Görlitz, was the next destination the next day. Here, during a guided tour of the city, one of the most important Renaissance sites north of the Alps was admired. It is not for nothing that the old town of Görlitz serves as a backdrop for many film productions. When returning to Bad Oybin, a stop was made in the village of Herrnhut. Here is the home of the Moravian Brothers and tour group in the factory zuzuchauen in the showroom of Herrnhutter poinsettias production. The next step was the return trip. On the way, a stopover was made in Weimar. During a city tour, participants were shown highlights in the old city. It's once again a journey rich in events that the Culture & Travel Association has achieved. Following the slogan "Keep up the good work", this year's last trip will take place in Slovenia.
