On Usedom is closed Monday at Federal Highway 110 between Zirchow and the Mellenthin branch for about five weeks. In the coming weeks, the Neustrelitz Road Construction Office will machine and reapply the old asphalt over a distance of more than eight kilometers. Jens Krage, head of the Neustrelitz Road Office, however, said that this work could only be done under conditions of complete closure.
Renewal of the road in three phases
The renewal of the roadway will take place in three stages. Start with the Zirchow section at the airport airport and then at Görke airport. Continue with the Görke branch until the Dargen / Kachlin branch. The third and last section goes from the Dargun / Kachlin branch to the Mellenthin / B111 branch.
Long detours for holidaymakers and guests
Motorists must sometimes make long detours for the period of total closure. Drivers who want, for example, from Heringsdorf to the city of Usedom, must drive on the B111. For Residents and firefighters, police and emergency medical services, the detours are shorter on the community and county roads, Krage said. In order not to overload them, they are reserved for residents and rescuers.
Overall, the renovation work on the three sections of the B110 lasts until mid-December. The cost is about two and a half million euros.
